Rugged, Compact & Easy to Use
Built to the same rugged specifications as GARMIN military products, this personal navigator stands tough in the harshest environments. The compact case is ultrasonically welded and waterproof to IPX-7 standards. That means it can withstand immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The sleek design of this GPS receiver not only makes it easy to carry, it makes it very easy to use, even when you're on the move in rough terrain. All buttons are located on either side of the unit, allowing for simple, one-handed operation that won't obstruct your view of the display. If the lighting conditions make it hard to see the screen, you can adjust the contrast or turn on the backlight. The eTrex Venture is housed in a stylish, translucent green case.
Increased Memory & Worldwide City Database
The eTrex Venture offers a worldwide database of cities and increased memory. It's memory capacity of one megabyte allows the eTrex Venture to accept downloaded information from Garmin's new MapSource Points of Interest CD-ROM. The CD enables users to download locations such as restaurants, hotels, shopping, entertainment, navaids, campgrounds, etc. Once the information is loaded into the unit, you can look up a destination and view the telephone and address information. Of course you don't have to add to it if you don't feel you need to, since this navigation system comes ready for traveling, with worldwide cities already loaded into it's memory.

Garmin's 12 channel receiver gives you a position fix in as little as 15 seconds, and stays locked on to satellites in the toughest of conditions-even under heavy foliage or tree canopy which is usually when you rely on your GPS the most.
